8 Week Vestibular PE Programme – Ages 4 to 5
Some children in early years struggle with balance, coordination, and movement control. They may fall easily, avoid spinning or climbing, or appear anxious during fast movement. Others may seek excessive movement, swinging or rocking constantly. These signs often suggest that the vestibular system, which helps the brain understand motion and balance, is still developing.
The 8 Week Vestibular PE Programme provides a complete, ready to teach plan that helps 4 to 5 year olds build balance, stability, and movement confidence through safe, purposeful activities. The lessons are designed to gently challenge the vestibular system, helping children learn to tolerate and enjoy movement, adjust their posture, and stay calm and focused during transitions. Over time, pupils develop smoother coordination, better spatial awareness, and greater confidence in both PE and daily movement.
Ideal for whole class PE, small SEN groups, or enrichment sessions, each lesson follows a consistent three part structure — Activation, Exploration, and Integration — beginning with gentle warm up games, followed by creative movement exploration, and finishing with calming, controlled activities that reinforce balance and postural control.
Each lesson is available in two flexible formats:
- 20 minute lessons for short sessions or warm ups
- 40 minute lessons for full curriculum delivery
The PDF download includes 16 progressive games and movement activities across 8 weekly lesson plans, designed to help children develop vestibular strength, balance, and confidence through structured play. Each activity includes clear learning goals, teacher guidance, and simple, easy to follow instructions, no specialist PE training required. Whether you are a class teacher, PE lead, or support staff, this resource helps you deliver inclusive, high quality PE that builds calm, coordinated, and confident movers.
