Level 2a – Ages 4 to 8 | Moderate Need – Coordination and Laterality Programme
Children with coordination or laterality difficulties may find it hard to move fluidly, keep up in PE, or complete classroom tasks like writing, cutting or following left to right instructions. These challenges often impact confidence, learning and participation in everyday life. This 16 week movement programme is designed to help.
If you’ve just completed our free online assessment, this is the level recommended for your child. If not, the assessment is always available to help guide your choice. Whether there’s a diagnosis, a flagged need, or simply something you’ve noticed, this programme offers targeted support that’s flexible, affordable and ready to make a difference in everyday family life.
Created for children aged 4 to 8 with moderate need, the Level 2a Coordination and Laterality Programme offers targeted, structured activities to develop cross lateral movement, balance and motor planning. With sessions taking less than 10 minutes, and ideally repeated 5 times a week, children gradually improve their ability to coordinate both sides of the body, helping with tasks like handwriting, posture and physical play. The eight playful, well paced activities include; Caterpillars, Twin Heads, Speedy Flips, Skipping and Marching, Snow Angels, Magical Bubble, Take the Tourists and The Slow Motion Escape. Each one is designed to support neural integration between brain hemispheres, improve physical control and build an internal map of the body.
Each session takes less than 10 minutes a day, ideally 5 times a week, and progresses through a 16 week plan.
The programme includes:
- Eight targeted games
- A visual progress tracker
- Flexible pacing options
- Shared goal-setting activity
- Additional Day-to-day recommendations
- Tips and support to help you get the most from every session.
