8 Week Coordination and Laterality PE Programme – Ages 10 to 14
By upper Key Stage 2 and early Key Stage 3, teachers often notice that some pupils still struggle with coordination and control. They may find it hard to catch, throw, or kick accurately, react slowly during games, or lose awareness of direction when moving across space. These difficulties can affect confidence, teamwork, and progression in sport, making PE less enjoyable and widening the gap between more and less physically able pupils.
The 8 Week Coordination and Laterality PE Programme provides a complete, ready to teach plan for improving movement control, body awareness, and spatial understanding in 10 to 14 year olds. It helps pupils strengthen both sides of the body, integrate left and right movements, and improve timing and accuracy during sport and physical activity. Over time, pupils develop smoother, more coordinated movement patterns, sharper focus, and greater physical confidence.
Ideal for whole class PE, small SEN groups, or targeted skill development, each lesson follows a consistent three part structure — Activation, Exploration, and Integration — beginning with purposeful warm up games, followed by creative movement exploration, and finishing with focused, skill building activities that support coordination and laterality.
Each lesson is available in two flexible formats:
- 20 minute lessons for short sessions or warm ups
- 40 minute lessons for full curriculum delivery
The PDF download includes 24 progressive movement games and activities across 8 weekly lesson plans, each designed to save teachers' planning time and ensure measurable progress. Every activity includes clear learning goals, teacher guidance, and simple, easy to follow instructions, no specialist PE training required. Whether you are a PE lead, class teacher, or sports coach, this resource helps you deliver inclusive, engaging lessons that build coordination, confidence, and teamwork.
