8 Week Primitive and Postural Reflexes PE Programme – Ages 8 to 9
In Key Stage 2, some pupils continue to show signs of unintegrated primitive or postural reflexes, which can affect their ability to move with balance, strength, and control. They may slouch or fidget when seated, tire quickly in PE, or move with poor coordination during games and sports. These challenges can limit confidence, physical progress, and classroom focus.
The 8 Week Primitive and Postural Reflexes PE Programme provides a complete, ready to teach plan that helps 8 to 9 year olds strengthen posture, balance, and coordination through fun, structured movement. The activities gently encourage the integration of early reflex patterns, supporting greater postural stability, endurance, and control. Over time, pupils develop smoother, more efficient movement patterns, improved balance, and the confidence to participate fully in sport and physical activity.
Ideal for whole class PE, small SEN groups, or targeted movement support, each lesson follows a consistent three part structure — Activation, Exploration, and Integration — beginning with purposeful warm up games, followed by guided movement challenges, and finishing with focused balance and coordination activities.
Each lesson is available in two flexible formats:
- 20 minute lessons for short sessions or warm ups
- 40 minute lessons for full curriculum delivery
The PDF download includes 25 progressive games and movement activities across 8 weekly lesson plans, designed to save teachers planning time while ensuring measurable progress in postural control and coordination. Each activity includes clear learning goals, teacher guidance, and simple, easy to follow instructions, no specialist PE training required. Whether you are a PE lead, class teacher, or support staff, this resource helps you deliver inclusive, high quality PE that strengthens movement control and physical confidence in every child.
